I was looking over my data usage the other day (I never have since it’s unlimited) and came across something very unusual. There were large amounts of data being sent from my phone during times I am asleep and within 15 minutes of the same time over several nights. Sometimes it will be every other day and other times its once a week. When I say large amounts of data, I mean 8mb 22mb.

That’s a lot of data to be sent from my phone especially when it shouldn’t be sending anything. If it were data coming in I would presume it was mobileMe but it’s all outgoing.
Of course, I did what everyone does and Googled for an answer. Strangely I have only been able ot find one result that fits my situation from a poster on the Apple forums.
There has been something sending data from my phone at night while I’m asleep. The breakdown on ATT site in the Data Usage section lists it as WAP.Cingular and is usually different – from 200k to 2MB
appx. and is listed as “sent”.I am on my home WIFI network so I’m perplexed with the usage that is being recorded ; although I’m not being charged as I have unlimited internet usage, I still wonder how/why this is happening.
It is periodic and does not correspond directly with the Mail App as far as I can tell.Has anyone had this happen, if so, what is it?
I tried calling ATT&T but got a blank look at least that’s what it felt like on the phone. Take a look at your bills and let me know if you are getting the same kind of data outgoing.
