Today is Election Day 2008 and our next president will be decided and a future that really no one can truly for see will begin to unfold. I think that either candidate has something different and good to offer the country and I would be happy to see both in office. This election has been one of the most exciting ones to date and I think that has more to do with technology and the candidates themselves. Like I said, both candidates have unique qualities that will make them great presidents and the American public knows this, which in turn makes both equally liked. The addition of so many social outlets online such as current.tv and twitter have made the campaign, candidates and dialogue between voters accessible. This accessibility and fondness for the candidates have added fuel to people all across America following the election campaigns and record voter turn out.
We may not have the same caliber of candidates the next election but one thing is for sure we will all be a bit more educated on the candidates and have more access to them as well. Campaigns of the future will certainly be changed after this one and the tools used as well.
Now if you haven’t been noticing, there are many election day specials to be had with these just being a few (and my favorite). Leave a comment on your favorite or if you don’t see something on my short list.

Apple well known for its elite marketing and huge product launches has somehow missed the target on all fronts today. We had the official release of the 2.0 iPhone firmware, the 3G Iphone release and MobileMe. All of which have had issues getting out. MobileMe took 2 days to finally get up and running albeit still a bit sluggish, the firmware update was pretty smooth until the country started to try and activate new 3G iPhones and no one could update or activate for a few hours (some iPhones getting bricked in the process).
Dot.Mac went down for maintenance last night. Apple stated that it was for the launch of MobileMe, Apple’s new “Exchange for everyone else”. I figured that this was going to be the first in the series of launches from Apple this week. The thought of push email, contacts and calendar are some great featrues I’ve been missing since I shut off my Blackberry. Of course, I’m still unsure as to why Apple still refuses to put a ToDo app or include the ToDo lists from iCal on the iPhone. All these services are a plus for me as my family is spread over seeveral different services. The dot.mac service went down as promised and this morning full of anticipation, I woke up and turned on the computer. I was greeted by the new login screen…
I logged in, got the perpetutal spinner as i ttried to load some data and the web 2.0 icons at the top of the screen. Of course, that’s were the experience ended. I logged out and then tried to get back but only was able to get to the MobileMe coming soon splash screen that’s been up for the past month. Looks like there are still couple bugs in the release.
Well, at least I have the new App store to play around with while I wait
Looks like Apples latest .Mac offering dubbed ‘MobileMe’ will be making its debut this evening. The .Mac service is scheduled to go down for maintenance this evening from 6pm – 9pm PST. During this time, Apple is planning to release MobileMe onto the masses.
Since getting an iPhone is so complicated, after all that’s why there were such long lines last year, ATT has produced a helpful video to get your ducks in a row for the imminent arrival on July 11th. I’m not sure who the intended audience of this video but it still has some redeeming entertainment value.

Every where you go on the net you see these little ad boxes somewhere on a web page. They are typically a 125×125 pixel spot and gives the owner a chance to showcase their product or web page. Now you could use many a tool (I use Photoshop and illustrator) to make these little ads. Not everyone has these tools available to them or maybe you just need something quick and easy. Enter free125cards.com. I first learned about this site over at Orangeinks and was instantly intrigued.
The service is free and is as easy as 3 simple steps. You first select a background. You can browse all the options or you can narrow the field by selecting a base color. Then you just need to customize by adding your own text. This is the biggest surprise. I was expecting just a simple add text feature but you really have some control over the text you add from the font to sizing and positioning.
Once you are happy with the design, save the image and you are presented with a completed product. Save to your desktop and share with everyone on the net
My posting has been a little on the light side over the past few weeks. Some say it could be the rise in micro blogging services like pownce or twitter. That could be part of it, for me I think it has more to do with the focus or direction of this blog.
I’ve struggled over the last few months to try and keep this blog as focused as I can and unfortunately in the process have not posted many a great posts. I definitly belive that you should always follow what you are passionate about and have found that I am limiting myself by trying to create too narrow of a focus of this blog.
Over the next few weeks you will see a new look (maybe a couple..), posts that will probably still be techcentric but also other stories of my adventure through the nets and IRL. I hope you find the changes to your liking and of interest
Ph? (Vietnamese pronunciation in IPA: written pho and pronounced "fuh" IPA: /f?/ in English) is a traditional Vietnamesenoodle soup dish. ~wikipedia.org Ok so I'm not some restaurateur, I'm just an average guy who likes his gadgets for what they do to make life better and otherwise bring a smile when opening a box for the first time. This blog is simply the recording of many of my adventures/mishaps with gadgets and my foray into the blogosphere with an occasional side of something special. I do a bit of web design and most recently my focus has been on Wordpress customization. You'll probably hear a lot regarding Apple products or products for my mac. I'm a recent convert after being in the Windows universe for many years. My first computer was vic20, upgraded to the 64 and then I purchased my first desktop (Yeah, I remember having to make that boot disk to make certain things run right). I was convinced to try out a mac last year and the new macbook pros with their Intel chips left me with no reason not to. I have ben ecstatic ever since (I don't think I qualify just yet as fanboy status but I'm getting their). Yeah, I drank the Kool-Ade and am waiting for a refill ;)
