I was looking over my data usage the other day (I never have since it’s unlimited) and came across something very unusual. There were large amounts of data being sent from my phone during times I am asleep and within 15 minutes of the same time over several nights. Sometimes it will be every other day and other times its once a week. When I say large amounts of data, I mean 8mb 22mb.
That’s a lot of data to be sent from my phone especially when it shouldn’t be sending anything. If it were data coming in I would presume it was mobileMe but it’s all outgoing.
Of course, I did what everyone does and Googled for an answer. Strangely I have only been able ot find one result that fits my situation from a poster on the Apple forums.
There has been something sending data from my phone at night while I’m asleep. The breakdown on ATT site in the Data Usage section lists it as WAP.Cingular and is usually different – from 200k to 2MB
appx. and is listed as “sent”.
I am on my home WIFI network so I’m perplexed with the usage that is being recorded ; although I’m not being charged as I have unlimited internet usage, I still wonder how/why this is happening.
It is periodic and does not correspond directly with the Mail App as far as I can tell.
Has anyone had this happen, if so, what is it?
I tried calling ATT&T but got a blank look at least that’s what it felt like on the phone. Take a look at your bills and let me know if you are getting the same kind of data outgoing.
Apples keynote at its last MacWorld is due to start in just a few hours. Typically the keynote is prefaced with rumors of new products updates and just the granting of wishes from its users.
This year has been a little different. The only rumors flying around surround some announcement of Snow Leopard (the latest Max OS) and a much needed update to the Mac Mini line up. So there is some excitement but not as much as previous years. So what are we to do? Thanks to the Onion News Network you now have something to get really excited about. The ONN revealed the MacBook Wheel to the internet and the news has been spreading like a wildfire.

Maybe you remember a post I did back a few weeks ago about the myLite app from DoApp. Well the folks over at DoApp have set up a website for just this app and wouldn’t you know it, phoFuki was featured on the site for my use of the application at a UB40 concert. There are seemingly an unlimited number of uses for the app and the list just seems to keep growing. Although I’m finding it not very useful in a game of flashlight tag with the kids, it still seems to keep growing in use for me.
So that begs the question…What are you using it for? Yes, I know not all of you have this app or an iPhone but I’ll bet that you have used your phone as a light at some point.
It was my sons first week of pre-school or is that school and grade -1? It really doesn’t matter since he has been super ecited to go and is loving every minute of it. Today concluded his first week which really only comprised of 2 (2 hour days) and 1 (1 hour day). However, he learned a few things and decided to share some of his new found knowledge with me today after I told him our camera could make a movie.
Ph? (Vietnamese pronunciation in IPA: written pho and pronounced "fuh" IPA: /f?/ in English) is a traditional Vietnamesenoodle soup dish. ~wikipedia.org Ok so I'm not some restaurateur, I'm just an average guy who likes his gadgets for what they do to make life better and otherwise bring a smile when opening a box for the first time. This blog is simply the recording of many of my adventures/mishaps with gadgets and my foray into the blogosphere with an occasional side of something special. I do a bit of web design and most recently my focus has been on Wordpress customization. You'll probably hear a lot regarding Apple products or products for my mac. I'm a recent convert after being in the Windows universe for many years. My first computer was vic20, upgraded to the 64 and then I purchased my first desktop (Yeah, I remember having to make that boot disk to make certain things run right). I was convinced to try out a mac last year and the new macbook pros with their Intel chips left me with no reason not to. I have ben ecstatic ever since (I don't think I qualify just yet as fanboy status but I'm getting their). Yeah, I drank the Kool-Ade and am waiting for a refill ;)
